they looked for you today – they found the same room you had two weeks ago but it seemed as though no-one was home. all i can do is pray you return by next week. the doctor said “sorry” after she couldn’t find you. it’s hard to stay positive after that, but i’m going to try my best to still hope. また来週ね。
I assume this is the dilemma for most women who find out they’re pregnant – to tell or not to tell. Sometimes I wish we could’ve been the kind of couple who just let nature take its course and were surprised to find after 2.5 months that I’m pregnant! My mom just sent me an NPR link about these two types of people in Japan today. As I read it, I couldn’t help but think about my husband who describes his younger brother in much the same way as this article describes these very troubled late teen to mid-life (mostly) male Japanese. His brother committed suicide on his 18th birthday.

Our friendly neighbors accosted me on the way home from the gym yesterday and insisted I join their Hina Matsuri (Doll’s Festival) celebration at their apartment. Thinking it so sweet of her to think of inviting me but feeling guilty that I didn’t have anything to offer or bring (last min notice and I had to be at work in an hour) – I couldn’t decline. (more…)

is finally over. i made it through the Japanese Language Proficiency Test Level 2 (9:30-2:30) and YWCA finals (9:30-3:30 day 1, and 9:30-1pm day 2). i don’t know if i’m any better for it but it certainly took a lot outta me with everything else going on. what do they say about this season in japan – busier than a buddhist monk running? exactly – and i haven’t even started on the holiday stuff yet – that comes after the last day of school on friday!
