oh boy…
Aso & Palin!?! never mind the embarrassment of what police and federal agents are doing near the RNC in MN – blatant intimidation tactics right after we were so ready to bash China for quelling any dissent surrounding the Oylmpics…disgusting. http://www.salon.com/opinion/greenwald/index.html

japan’s PM resigns AGAIN!?! not that anyone before or since Koizumi for a long time has actually made any difference BUT…we might be left with Aso!?! maybe even less eloquent than Bush!?!:

“Ordinary rice is sold at about 16, 000 yen a bag here. But it is 78,000 yen in China. Even someone with Alzheimer’s can see which of 16,000 and 78,000 ismore expensive.”

On a Japanese peace initiative in the Middle East: “Japan is doing what Americans can’t do. Japanese are trusted. It would probably be no good to have blue eyes and blond hair. Luckily, we Japanese have yellow faces.”

“I think the best country is one in which rich Jews feel like living.”

Japan is “one nation, one civilization, one language, one culture, and one race, the like of which there is no other on this earth.”

“Thanks to the significant improvements (in educational standards and literacy during colonization) , Taiwan is now a country with a very high education level and keeps up with the current era. … our predecessors did a good thing.”

Yasukuni: “The more China voices (opposition) the more one feels like going there. It’s just like when you’re told ‘Don’t smoke cigarettes.’ It actually makes you want to smoke. It’s best (for China) to keep quiet.”

then there is McCain’s new running mate – not that i would have voted for him anyway but what a gal:

“Palin has strongly promoted oil and natural gas resource development in Alaska, including in the Alaskan National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR), where such development has been the subject of a national debate.[50] She also helped pass a tax increase on oil company profits.[44] Palin has followed through on plans to create a new sub-cabinet group of advisers to address climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions within Alaska.[51][52] When asked about climate change after becoming Senator McCain’s presumptive running mate, she stated that it would ‘affect Alaska more than any other state”, but she added, “I’m not one though who would attribute it to being man-made.’ ”

she also slashed funding for an Alaskan group/home that provides a place to stay and programs to help teenage mothers earlier this year – and she and McCain oppose funding for programs to prevent teen pregnancy.

obviously that’s because the only teens who should be pregnant are ones with rich families to support them – like her 17-yr old who’s 5 months pregnant.
