Good find (thanks Wendy):
Depressed Over the Election…? Kiss your conscience goodbye and switch to the winner!

What I can’t stop listening to: Clap Your Hands Say Yeah

Otherwise, I’m hoping everyone enjoyed Halloween as much as I did! The one day a year that I can dress however I damn well please and for once actually know why the hell they are all staring at me!! In the good ole days it was just a day I could do it and no one could say anything – but now it’s just a day where I feel better about myself because I understand. Granted I am stared at quite a bit more than usual when I walk the 30min stretch from my work to 25m Floater’s last live show with their drummer with bright red hair (yes the same wig since 2001 – will someone buy me a new one?), cat ears, tail, my nose & lips blackened, and whiskers drawn on my face…but that’s the fun kind of being stared at. I was watching a car full of people that were watching me watching them for a good minute before I finally smiled and waved. It was as though I were a celebrity – they all burst into elated giggles and waved back! Tell me your Halloween tales…

The highlight before that was a weekend in Tokyo visiting old friends. The last time I was in Tokyo was to bid farewell to two of them last April – but they were both back (one for good!) and it was nostalgic and strange to be there with them again – like, “yeah, this is right, this is normal…I’m in Shibuya drinking, eating okonomiyaki, and singing karaoke with Stacey, David, and Matt. Yeah yeah – and the morning after next I’m in Tokorozawa catching the train to Shinjuku to meet Stacey for coffee. Right. Wait…no…” Then I back in Kobe madly trying to catch up on my Japanese school work when the class was above my level to begin with and plan a Halloween party for the children I teach. It was a lovely hiatus, though much too short.

If you’re lucky – pictures will be up soon!

BIG CONGRATULATIONS to my High School pal Lisa (aka Lyssa) Cohn – now Mrs. Lisa Michelle White!!
